Dan Michaelson + The Coastguards, The Basement, 8 March 2011
Having supported I Am Kloot, the Coastguards ensemble returned to York for their own headline show at the Basement. First clocking Dan Michaelson outside the venue complete with cigarette, we headed in for a pint and a curious evening with the sea-farers. The crowd was fairly small, but perfectly fitting for the Basement which accommodates huddles rather than crowds with aplomb. Bringing ‘The Shakes’ to life, it was a fantastic set from the gravelliest voiced man in pop. Awesome close to a weekend in the cold.
